Here is a look at two sunset drawings recently completed, the pastels I use and some in progress images. I used Sennelier pastel card and a range of Sennelier and Unison soft pastels.
I lay down the first layer of colour and then carefully work in the detail on top. Pastel card can hold many layers of pastel so there is great opportunity for blending many colours!
I carefully choose which pastels to buy for each drawing that I do, looking at all the variations of colours that I can see in the photos. The wider the colour palette the better! I work from my own photos, the ones for these taken during Autumn on Snettisham beach on the North Norfolk coast.
